What happened to the markets
What happened to the markets this surprising summer
Following Brexit in June, Emerging Markets stocks went up 10% during this summer, and we have seen new record highs for U.S. stocks. They have more than tripled since March 2009!
The last U.S. bear market started 9 years ago.
Despite the U.S. stocks outperformance during last 6 years, International and Emerging Markets stocks have outperformed many times since 1976.
Emerging Markets stocks and International stocks (EAFE) have underperformed U.S. stocks in the last few years.
In addition, Emerging Markets currencies seem to be cheap (U.S. dollar starts to be expensive).
BFM always recommend to have well diversified portfolios. As you can see below, style box investing does not offer good diversification (correlations are very high).
Is it time for value stocks to outperform?
U.S. Real Estate prices are back to previous peak while mortgage rates are still at very low rates.
